The High Trails Way

With 9,000 students, 120+ schools and upwards of 50 staff, it's easy to lose sight of what we're trying to accomplish. The High Trails Way is a constant reminder of the goals and ideals that we're trying our very best to follow.

STUDENTS

All of our program and curriculum build towards this theme: "Learning how our communities and the environment can all fit together on one healthy planet". We approach students in a realistic fashion, however, and realize that they will not remember all of the details that we teach during the week. If nothing else, we want students to walk away having had a positive experience outdoors, one that in the future will lead them towards a healthy, active, outdoor life.

SCHOOL TEACHERS

We aim to provide great support, customer service, and tools to make preparation for visiting High Trails as simple as it can be. We will provide clean and comfortable lodging for teachers, making it easy and pleasant to spend time away from home and family. While here, we offer teachers an opportunity to step back from the normal classroom and observe their students in a different environment, gaining valuable insight to how they learn and interact with one another.  After the trip, we offer teaching tools to follow up with students on lessons and themes learned at High Trails.

INSTRUCTORS

We want to present an honest and informative picture of our work environment and treat job applicants with respect. While at High Trails, We want our staff to learn and experience several things; the importance of having a strong and realistic work ethic, the joy of living in a positive and supportive community, the reward of exploring and appreciating nature, and the imperative necessity of being a lifelong learner and educator

ADMINISTRATION

We want our administrators to learn what it takes to be a great Leader, Manager, and Teacher, and consistently use these skills to make the world a better place.
